All Weather Winter Champs Final Hurrah !

We have enjoyed a great all weather season and our talented team have been flat out. Not only keeping racing through what has been possibly the wettest winter I have ever had to contend with - but also keeping the home fires burning with our new bunch of babies and those horses returning after a winter break.

Statistics do not lie - and I was pleased to finish in the top twenty five trainers in the country. Showing a small profit for a £1 stake for our owners and followers who like a flutter. Out of the top trainers in this leading bracket our team were among only three other yards to show a profit - so exceptionally pleasing. Sixteen winners an incredible result - along with close shaves with fifteen second places - nineteen third places and twenty two fourth placings - thus ensuring that on all our runners 47% have hit the frame and our owners have received some prize money and a trip to the winners enclosure with their horses. Congratulations team - take a bow !

Spring Fever

Following the fantastic sights on show at The Cheltenham Festival - I didn't think it could get any better after Friday - however with England completing the Grand Slam on Saturday - following the crash out in The World Cup and the first day of Spring arriving on Sunday in all its glory - it was particularly exciting to begin making entries for the first meetings with our two year olds. It was also exciting to make entries for the fantastic all weather championships final on Good Friday at Lingfield. Arena Leisure have pulled off a really fantastic occasion - which rewards owners with an exceptional day out at championship level - in a variety of races. Lingfield racecourse is well up to putting on the show - it is a pretty racecourse and being a regular visitor to the all weather championships I cannot recommended it highly enough to the general public and racing fans.

Weekly Update

Monday 14th March 2016

After hitting the crossbar so many times in recent weeks - getting our owners into the winners enclosure - but not onto the winners podium had been rather frustrating.

We started the week off at Southwell on Tuesday with three runners who I thought all had good chances. Boots and Spurs obviously needed the run and best Tamayuz was somewhat hindered in the race - back to the drawing board with them. Delighted to have "The General" - Gen Sir Geoffrey Howlett owner of Sir Geoffrey with me on course at Southwell - I am extremely fortunately to have him as an owner - what an incredible man he is. Geffers ran an absolute cracker - in fourth - just feeling the effects of a run less than a week later in the final furlong.

Pleased to announce our first foal of 2016 - a colt foal out of La Capriosa by Milk it Mick born this morning - this is her second foal and she had a smashing safe delivery up at Norton Grove Stud in Malton. She visits Monsieur Bond this season. Our friends at Norton Grove and the breeder of Misu Moneypenny and Crosse Fire - Dr Gillsepie - have sent a smashing 2 yo filly by Aqlamm out of Silk who is a close relative to the dam of both Misu Moneypenny & Crosse Fire. Hopefully we will have some fun and success for them with her.

Stalls work with the 2 year olds is now in full swing - and they are being jumped out of the stalls on our grass gallops - and although this morning was cold and frosty - there is a certain smell of Spring just around the corner.

The turf season is edging closer - and the youngsters are being stepped up all the time and in full swing. We have our sights set for Cock of The North making his comeback in the early part of the season, and Boots and Spurs a smashing horse owned by the smashing owners Simon & Louise Chappell who has won twice for us this all weather season we are hoping will be ready for an early spring turf campaign.
