Monday Update

A pleasing week with One Call Insurance - John & Carolyn Radford gaining a success at Southwell with their Rupert Boy. Rupert has been most consistent without getting his head in first place. Rupert Boy is named after one of their twin sons Rupert Radford. Albert Boy their other horse will hopefully join the winning ranks soon to join Hugie Boy a winner last year and named after elder brother to the twins Hugo Radford.

Bomber Etches ran well and into the frame in fourth and this youngster looks to be getting the hang of what racing is all about.

Weekly Update

Monday 8th February 2016

Last week did not hail us a winner, but was an interesting week non the less and whether the horses run well or not if they come home safely we are always happy and often learn from every run.

Our two year old string - the largest we have ever had, are coming to hand and we will be taking the first bunch to work this week away from home. The weather this winter has been far from kind, the wettest I can recall here at Haygarth. Thankfully we have access to our gallops, tracks and off road hacking so can call on using our various facilities when need be. Our close relationship along with the close proximity to Southwell Racecourse ensures we always keep the show on the road for our owners. Thoughts do go out to all our staff who brave all weathers to ride out in and go racing for our owners. I am sure a snorkel and flippers along with wet suit would have come in handy this winter. As ever our team battle through and our team spirit is hard to beat. Huge thanks to them all.

Weekly Update

Tuesday 3rd February 2016

We had a great start to last week - with a double at Southwell.

Crosse Fire has been a revelation this winter and has gained so much confidence. Ha always had the ability it was ensuring his motives were channeled in the right direction.

It was utterly fantastic to see the stable stalwart the evergreen Sir Geoffrey hit the winners enclosure gaining his 16th win of his career. What an amazing horse he is. He was a very popular winner and a firm favourite it seems not only at home and with his legendary owner General Sir Geoffrey Howlett - but also with the crowd too. It is fantastic to see the support the older horse receive - it is heartwarming and much appreciated.

Runners this week :

Our week racing sees a return to Southwell again on Tuesday.

This local track has yielded a decent supply of winners and placed horses for our owners and the team this all weather season. The great facilities on offer to owners including a dedicated owners bar close to the winning connections enclosure along with the pre parade and parade ring along with complimentary lunch in The Pantry ensure along with the friendly and very accommodating staff at the course that it remains a firm favourite without owners.
