Coiste Bodhar Starts The Christmas Party

Thursday 21st December was the date set for our team Christmas Party. Due to be hosted by Andy Longworth and Andy Stella from Bawtrys Bar & Grill. we had a fabulous Prosseco reception, Christmas dinner, followed by cocktails with the fantastic saxophonist to dance the night away.

A busy afternoon for the team with runners at Southwell, meant a quick dash after racing to get changed.

The horses had been running in fair form from since the last win from Tilly Divine, but however consistent the horses are, and our number of placed horses on the graph below shows just how consistent we have been this year. Our yard strike rate is currently operating at at +11.70 for £1 stake placed. However, it is the wins that are so very special and always thoroughly welcomed and celebrated.

YEAR WINS RUNS % 2ND 3RD 4TH TOTAL EARNINGS £1 STAKE 2017 31 383 8 30 44 49 £170,500 +11.70

Cosite Bodhar - or "Gizmo" as he is better known at home - has been running consistently, since his break in the Summer, but without getting his head into the winning spot. As many of you readers will know - a sprint can be run several times times with the same runners and a different result will be the outcome. How a surface is riding, how the horse breaks and naturally how the horse feels on the day - these factors are all elements to consider on the day.

Steve and Yvonne Lowe have been very loyal owners here at Scott Dixon Racing, as has joint owner William Robinson. It was therefore fabulous to see their faith and loyalty rewarded just on the run up to Christmas. Gizmo ran with great credit as he was unable to dominate which is something he usually enjoys so much. Apprentice Jamie Gormley rode him so well and encouraged him to finish off his race rather than opting straight for the whip which so many jockeys sadly resort to so quickly.

Our yard is very much a team focused operation which applies not only to our riders and stable staff, but also to our owners. Winning Connections Racing our new syndicate were on course with their runners and were all kindly invited into the winners enclosure by Gizmo's owners and onward to the winning connections champagne suite afterwards to celebrate. Thanks to Southwell for their total generosity to our owners on theses occasions.

Once home the celebrations continued into the night with the team Christmas Party and thoughts were with Gizmo who helped to ensure that the party certainly was celebrated in style. Gifts of carrots for the horses over the festive period are welcome, and anyone wishing to donate towards a New Year outing for our loyal and hard working team of stable staff would be appreciated.

Merry Christmas Everyone - we look forward to racing with owners and friends and family on December 29th.
