Sir Geoffrey Keeps The Ball Rolling

Sir Geoffrey kept the winners coming on Thursday securing our 3rd win of January, and Samovar just getting beat in another photo finish.

It was Sir Geoffrey that was not for beating in the 1:55 on Thursday at Southwell.

Sir Geoffrey had been given a break over the winter months of 2017. We knew Geffers had been working well at home since he returned into full work, although after a long break he could have tired in the final furlong. On Thursday this was not the case as soon as the gates opened Geffer's made it quite clear he wanted to win. He stormed into the lead and was for the catching, with 2 furlongs to go it looked like his rivals were closing in on him and then he found a second wind and drew clear in the final furlong to finish a length ahead of the second placed horse under jockey Kieran O'neil.

Sir Geoffrey is such a firm favourite not only at home but also on the racecourse and you could hear the crowd cheering him home through the home straight. The roar as he crossed the line made his victory all the more special, and many of the racegoers crowed around the winners enclosure to clap him in and congratulate the connections.

Geffer's as he is known at home, is such a pleasure to train and is loved by not only his loyal owner General Sir Geoffrey Howlett, but by every member of staff past or present at Scott Dixon Racing.

At a fine age of 12 he has now secured his 21st win all of which have been secured in handicaps and he has been victorious at 10 different courses.

He is closing in again on the title of winning most horse in training and is 1 win away from winning 10 races at Southwell, as long as he is happy and healthy he will continue to do what he loves best.

Thanks also go to Rase Veterinary Centre - Market Rasen and Nicola Baguley our physio for the training support.
